This is James and Tamme Lockhart of Lockhart Rentals in Rock Springs, Wyoming, harassing a disabled veteran and accusing him of not paying his rent. I know this veteran and I know he always pays his rent on time. In this particular case, after paying his rent on time for a year, on November 5th, 2022, this veteran heard some very loud pounding at his front door, only to find it was James Lockhart out front along with his wife, Tamme, filming the veteran, trying very hard to provoke him.
That’s correct. A veteran who served this country honorably, came back home to have these people try to provoke him at what was supposed to be his home, pounding very hard on his front door just to accuse him of not paying his rent. With that, the veteran grabbed his phone and started filming as well.
From here on out we’ll refer to the veteran as Joe, as he asked to not be named.
Prior to this incident, this veteran always paid his rent by dropping a check in the drop box at Lochart’s office at North Front Street in Rock Springs. Lockart had also told Joe that he could always pay via the Zelle app as well if he needed to. When Joe was away hunting, that was exactly what he tried to do. However, the app wasn’t working. Joe texted James several times to see if there was a different app he could pay with because he could not get Zelle to work. Joe also sent James the screenshots of the error message on the Zelle app every time he tried to pay and it would not work. He tried several times to no avail. Again, this veteran was never late on his rent, yet James had the audacity to respond to Joe with “You shouldn’t be hunting if you cannot pay your rent.” Then as you can see in the video, even after Joe paid his rent, James came to his house pounding on his door just to film and harass him and accuse him of not paying his rent.
To boot, James also charged Joe over $600 in late fees and told Joe that if he did not pay it he would be kicking him out. Without having another place to go within 72 hours, Joe paid the $600. What’s more, Joe had made many upgrades to this home without any charge to James Lockhart. Not only did he take great care of this place, he beautified it, yet this is how poorly James and Tamme treated him in return. After a year of paying his rent on time, this is what they did to him when he could not get the app to work and took it upon themselves to tell a veteran he should not be hunting.
A few months later, Joe decided to move out and James did not give him all of his deposit back. When Joe reached out to James asking where the rest of his deposit was, James responded that Joe stayed in the house an extra three days, when in fact Joe had actually been completely moved out several days early.
Pay attention folks! James and Tamme Lockhart have a very bad reputation for how they treat their tenants. I highly recommend you rent from someone else!
